This page presents links to the Washington quarter doubled die listings in the Wexler Doubled Die Files for the years 1932 through 1998. These listings are a work in progress. A number of these varieties can be found in the 1999 book The Best of the Washington Quarter Doubled Die Varieties by John A. Wexler and Kevin Flynn. During 1943 the edge changed from reeded (KM# 546) to a security edge. An example of the large '5' in the date is shown in the image of the reverse at the top of this page. Mint marks, dot or diamond for Bombay, 'L' for Lahore is located below lotus at the bottom of the reverse (see images below).
- Washington Quarters 1943 25C MS. NGC Universal ID: 2455. The NGC Universal ID is a four digit alphanumeric that groups coins based on a unique combination of date.
- In 1943, as World War II raged, more than 16 million quarter dollars were struck at the Denver Mint. In circulated and in lower Mint State grades, a 1943-D Washington quarter dollar is a common.
- The United States Mint made 15 regular-issue 1943 coins, including pennies, five-cent coins, dimes, quarters, and half dollars. Washington Quarter Errors List
Beginning with the mintmark. Two mints produced Washington quarters in 1934, Philadelphia and Denver. Those minted in Denver are worth a premium today because of low mintage totals.

The 1934-D listing on the coin value chart indicates a coin minted in Denver. The main mint in Philadelphia did not put mintmarks on quarters at the time. Finding 1934 Quarter Value by Grade

1943 Quarter No Mint Mark
Uncirculated: A 1934 quarter in the 'Uncirculated' grade exhibits absolutely no wear on its surfaces. The coin appears as if freshly minted. Although natural toning acquired over the years can be very desirable. This combination of factors results in the most desirable and valuable coins.
Extremely Fine: Slight wear confined only to the highest points of the design. The areas of focus are the hair details towards the top of Washington's head, the curls above the ear, and the cheeks near the eye. Easily described as a crisp and collectible coin.
Fine: On this coin the small and finer details have worn away and the area surrounding the ear has flattened from circulation. Many transfers from hand to hand have left their mark. However, eye appeal is still rather nice.
Good: The Washington portrait is smooth from circulation, but all essential details remain. The obverse rim of a 1934 quarter is normally still well defined, but usually in this condition the rim has merged into the lettering on the reverse.
